Or, have I just been incredibly unlucky with my copies?ĭid not have any haze problems with any of my Contax lenses so far - also the old AE are all clean.

Is anyone familiar enough with it to know if this is a issue with the lens or maybe has to do with date of manufacture? I've noticed other copies with serial numbers 73XXXXX, 74XXXXX, and 79XXXXX and wonder if they have better alignment. I don't think this is a problem with my test setup, my other lenses and my current 35mm lens don't show this behavior.

Also, all three seem to be misaligned in the same way - the top right corner and to a lesser extent the entire far right side are out of focus by about a foot when the center is in focus at 2.8. All three have had some haze under the front element, which honestly is the sellers fault for not disclosing, but it's a trend I've noticed with the lens.

I've tried three different copies, all within the serial number range of 70XXXXX. I've been trying to obtain an optically excellent copy of the Distagon MM 35mm f/2.8 and haven't been having much luck. Some Mamiya ULD 300/5.6 samples on the A72:

Thank you chris9.VS C/Y 80-200/4 is better in practice than one might think looking on technical parameters only.Very nice collection btw. Many more common C/Y lenses are getting cheaper now.Good for us.Īs for well corrected 300mm lens - consider Mamiya ULD 300/5.6 for Mamiya 645.Pretty small and lightweighgt. No CA to speak of wide open.With,say,M645-Nikon and Nikon-Sony E adapters looks good on the A72 and is easily handholdable.ĭon't let go the 300/4 TT C/Y too quickly if you can.It is a very good lens. I agree on “Leica Tele-Elmar 135/4” that I have. I am still looking for a well corrected 300mm f4 or 5.6 to replace my C/Y 300/4. Pervious pictures were of Bautzen/Budiśyn in Oberlausitz/Horni Lużica - another old, warm little city. There are still some slavic lusatian serbs (sorben) living there since the times, when all of todays Eastern Germany,up to Elbe river was inhabited by slavic tribes. As the result of this all information boards there are in german and lower lusatian. This western slavic language is almost like polish. In speaking and writing. It is very nice to know that those lands are familiar to you and that you like them as well.I visit closer parts Sachsen and Lausitz from time to time as they are less than 300 km from my home. I bought a few sets of their stuff, as I grew up about one km downstream of Corvey on the river Weser. “Schloss Corvey” is the name of one of their designs, featuring hunting motives. I grew up near the village of Fürstenberg where they also manufacture porcelain. Of course I have heard of the famous Meissner Porzelan. In one of your images was advertised “Meissner Schwarzbiergulasch”. Indeed “beautiful and cozy” seems to describe it perfectly. Thank you Karl-Heinz.This is Meissen in Saxony - old picturesque town with a great, over a thousand years old history,13km North-West from Dresden.Known in the world for its porcelain products. It is beautiful and cozy.

I see a lot of German words in your excellent images. The image with the buildings was shot with the Contax Zeiss S-60mm 2.8 at 5.6. The storefront photo was taken with the Contax Zeiss 50mm 1.7 mm at 5.6. Got this lens just in time for my shoot and so far I'm really loving its rendering.
